On Mother's Day...A Salute to Moms Real and Fictional

I started out planning to write a tribute to my own Mom on Mother's Day--but everything I tried to write made me cry (Mom's been gone almost seventeen years now), so I did a brief tribute on my Facebook page and decided to do something a little different here. Wishing all the moms reading this a Happy Mother's Day, I have a question for you: which of these TV moms are you most like?

 Bonnie or Christy, Mom

Miss Ellie or Sue Ellen, Dallas

June Cleaver, Leave it to Beaver

Roseanne Conner, Roseanne

Louise Jefferson or Helen Willis, The Jeffersons

Edith Bunker, All in the Family

Blanche, Dorothy, Sophia or Rose, The Golden Girls

Dad used to say Mom reminded him of Rose from The Golden Girls--great big heart, itty bitty brain. He was just kidding...I think!

  1. I can see this bringing out many an interesting response!

  2. Well I'm only a step mom and fur baby mom with seven grandchildren who get presents but act like they don't know my name-plus they visit quite often-when their mother wants something--like free laundry or rent or co-signing for a loan. I'm generous to a fault but lately I'm not happy about it. Maybe a touch of Blanche mixed with Dorothy, Louise and Rosanne. Lol

    1. Oh My Goodness you have a hard line to walk being a step Mum,
with toxic step children... be Roseanne !

  3. I'm kind of ditzy like Edith Bunker, but I'm also kind of bossy like Miss Ellie.

  4. Not any of them really, and when you consider June Cleaver wore pearls and high heels while doing house work, not a chance. I never said "Wait until your Father comes home," and none of the others really fit either. Although, my daughter once claimed our homelife was something like Leave it to Beaver, I didn't bother waiting for my husband to mete out punishment and we had horses. Go figure.

    1. Pearls and heels were pretty unrealistic. I don't even wear heels when I'm not doing housework!

  5. Unfortunately I used a lot of sarcasm with the boys somewhat like Roseanne. They survived.

  7. Hmmm! Gosh that's a tricky one Norma, sometimes I think the English/Aussie way is very different to the European and American way :) Aimee describes me as a little bit weird, but the good kind of weird :)

    1. Grace, that's considered a compliment in any part of the world!

Collin declined to comment as to which one he likens to me....

    2. If he won't pick, which do you pick is close to you?

    3. I'd have to go with Sophia. She loves her kids unconditionally and has a sharp tongue.

    1. I should have gone with a longer list, though!
